A Women’s Healing Journey
Turtle Island Project

Grandmother Mona Polacca
Arizona, USA

Turtle Island Project (TIP) is committed to cultivating an appreciation for the contributions individual participation makes to the process of healing. The retreat, A Women’s Healing Journey, is  committed to rekindling participant’s awareness of the world around them through creative new ways of healing. Native Americans and non-Native health professionals’ equally administer and staff The Turtle Island Project.

Since 1986 Grandmother Mona Polacca has facilitated A Women’s Healing Journey (WHJ)  with  Charlee Sutton and Dr. Joyce Mills, with whom she developed  WHJ. The women are the heart of the Turtle Island Project.  The women’s weekend is founded on the belief that mothers and grandmothers brought the gifts of storytelling, sacred rites, ceremony, creativity, dance, potting, weaving, law, memory and intuition to this world and gave women power and expression. In WHJ weekends we separate ourselves for ordinary time and space to begin a journey, a  Women's Healing Journey reconnecting to those gifts, our power and expression to rejuvenate, release and let go of all that needs to shed. At termination of the weekend the women  are able to share these teachings with the women, men and children with whom we walk.

The Turtle Island Project, a 501(c) (3) organization promotes health, generates a multicultural appreciation for the power of healing rituals and ceremonies and where LISTENING is prominent.

The mission is to provide training, education and research to individuals, families and health-care professionals who are interested in expanding their therapeutic repertoire. The TIP promotes a multidimensional healing paradigm that incorporates contemporary research in psychoneuroimmunology, Ericksonian psychotherapeutic principles and indigenous wisdom.

The Turtle Island Project is sustained  through connections and referrals from our participants (relatives) and to the integrity of Spirit. We encourage those of you who have experienced our offerings to continue to share our heart message with others in your lives.

Donations, contributions and sponsorships are tax deductible. Your gift provides a financial lifeline, helping the Turtle to bridge the gap between income and expenses, to provide scholarships to retreats, to provide funding for work with disadvantaged and marginalized populations.
